Last week I finally decided to pull the plug on winter. A declaration of independence from an eternal cold and snowy season that has seemed to never end. All the winter decor – including the infamous hot cocoa bar that has stayed up now in my home for 4 straight months – finally came down. Everything was packed away until next season and the house got a top to bottom dusting and vacuuming.
It seems as though Mother Nature took my cue and has followed suit. Temperatures have remained in the mid 40’s this week here in Wisconsin and I think I even saw a 60 degree day in the forecast for next Tuesday! The snow has finally started to disappear and I can see my gross, dirty yard again. But, I know that this season is one of expectancy. Spring has sprung and soon enough all the fresh green from the grass, trees and flowers will once again awaken.
This inspiration made me excited to decorate for a new season. But, I’m learning with time that my taste for “less is more decor” is evolving. I only decided to deck out the kitchen and dining room for Easter this year, and opted to keep my living room in a more simplistic tone.
Today, I’ll share with you our dining space where the vibe is definitely bunnies, bunnies and more bunnies.
It all started with these tiny little bunny ceramic egg cups I found at Target’s Dollar Spot. Gah, why am I such a sucker for anything that’s cute, adorable and only a Dollar at Target??
The woman at the checkout register actually asked me, “What the heck are these for?”
To which I replied, “Eggs,” and this led to an astonishing look back that said it all in just one glance….”you actually need a cup for your hard boiled eggs at Easter?”
I digress.
Back to my love for bunnies. These little egg cups had me at hello because of those adorable little white bunny ears. We have baby bunnies every year in our yard and always enjoy discovering their fuzzy nests.
Last Easter we found a huge nest in our strawberry patch that was quite the surprise! My oldest daughter was removing the straw bedding from the winter and discovered it was moving!
Peter Rabbit has always been a favorite children’s story of mine and my kids love the entire Beatrix Potter series featuring animals.
These little playful bunnies reminded me of Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail and Peter having fun together.
And these ducks? Can you stand their little yellow, fuzzy cuteness?
Every year at Tractor Supply in the spring it takes everything in me to leave without a baby duck. If we ever get our farm someday, we’ll definitely be having some ducks.
This cute Cottontail Confectionery sign also inspired me to bring the bunnies into the dining room. Since I work at a candy shop, and all we’ve been making for weeks now is Easter candy, it seemed fitting.
The bunny plates and the pitcher were both from Target last season.
These pretty stems are from Hobby Lobby and seem so very realistic. They are the white blossoms from their Fresh Picked collection. I love how they add a pop of springtime to our dining space.
I know we’ll enjoy this space for the next month ahead. I’m anxious for a new season and all the other newness that spring brings along with it. Hippity-Hoppity-Easter’s on it’s way!

Oh Katie! you have out done yourself with “less is more.” What you put together for a nod to Easter is simply adorable. And I couldn’t stop laughing about your trip to Target and the check out clerk. Clearly some people don’t get it…. We do!!!
Happy spring and Happy Easter to you and your family.
God Blessings
