Happy March to you! The month certainly came in like a lion with a winter storm hitting this area. But even though we may have gotten a few inches of snow this week, I am still optimistically looking ahead to springtime. Already they are forecasting 60 degree temperatures for southeastern Wisconsin next week, so one can remain hopeful!
This time of year always makes me realize how dirty & stuffy our house has become closed up all winter long. I am anxious for that first warm spring day when I can open up all the windows and let the fresh, clean air inside. It always makes the house smell so good. Do you enjoy that fresh aroma as much as I do?
I have a tendency to feel that way about a lot of smells in my house. One thing I’ve found I really can’t tolerate the smell of are harsh or overpowering scents. I can’t handle a lot of the candles or lotions that Bath & Body Works sell, due to their super strong fragrances, nor the smell of chemicals with bleach or ammonia in them…they can really give me a serious headache.
When spring comes around, airing out my house is essential, and so is giving it a good thorough top to bottom cleaning. I know some of you may think I’m crazy, but I really do love to spring clean! It’s somewhat therapeutic for me to sweep away all that dust, shine away all the smudge marks and wash all the grime of the winter away.
That’s why I was pretty excited when I heard about an online store called ePantry, which offers eco-friendly, natural-based home & personal care products, for a discount from the list price, delivered right to your front door. I was even more excited when they offered to send me some home cleaning and personal care products to test out in my spring cleaning endeavors this month (and give you guys an awesome offer at the same time.)
What makes a subscription to ePantry so convenient is that you can customize your orders each month to stock up on your favorite cleaning supplies, home care and personal care products, all without even having to step foot in a store. I was looking forward to trying them out. Within just a couple of days of placing my order, it showed up at my front door.
Many of the products they sell are well-known names like Method, Mrs. Meyer’s, Tom’s of Maine and Seventh Generation. I typically use Mrs. Meyer’s brand soaps in my kitchen and Method brand cleaning products for my bathrooms, because again, I can’t take a lot of the harsher chemicals and strong perfumes & dyes that are added to several over the counter products.
I decided to order some Mrs. Meyer’s and Method brand cleaning products in scents I have never tried before. I tried to pick fragrances that would remind me of springtime. I really like the clean, citrus smell of the Clementine soap while I’m doing dishes and the Honeysuckle multi-surface spray has a pleasant, sweet smell when I’m using it to wipe down the table or counters. The Spearmint toilet bowl cleaner leaves my bathroom smelling minty fresh & clean! Ahhhh!
ePantry also features their own line of natural products called Grove Collaborative, from which I also ordered a few items to try out. I ordered some cotton kitchen towels, a soothing Eucalyptus & Spearmint soy candle and a Mint & Chia organic lip balm. The only other chapstick I use is Burt’s Bees because the peppermint infused beeswax actually feels like it’s working. I found the Grove brand to also feel very soothing and effective on my winter-chapped lips.
The last item I ordered was a package of Acure unscented argan oil cleansing towelettes. I am seriously the worst when it comes to washing my face at night and these towels are great to keep on my nightstand for a quick wipe down before I crawl into bed, when I’m already half-asleep and don’t want to take the time to do my full face-washing routine. I really like how smooth they leave my face feeling and the fact that they are unscented & sulfate/paraben free is a huge plus for me and my hypoallergenic skin.
