This has been the start of a strange winter here in Wisconsin. Once we hit October, we kind of skipped right over any sort of fall we had left and went straight into winter.
Cold winter.
Gray days.
Cold winter, gray days, with no snow. (insert frowney face)
If it’s going to be 19 degrees and bleak outside at least let it be pretty with everything covered in white!
*Sigh*
So I took it upon myself to still make everything look pretty out my front porch this season. Usually by now we’d at least have a few inches of snow on the ground to help with that Christmas-y cheer, but not this year!
I love decorating with vintage, so this old sled found a home right by the front door.
And this rug…oh this rug! It sort of set off a frenzy in my family when they saw this cute green rug with the red truck.
I got it at Aldi – of course, where else? – for $5! But the problem was they sold out fast at my husband’s store. So my sister and my mom both went on a special Aldi mission to find stores that still had them in stock! Happy to report, they both successfully located the cute red truck rug for their own front porches.
This old red bucket I just filled with some cut evergreens and dried hydrangeas.
Same with the old green wagon in our front garden bed.
Aren’t those sparkly wooden angel wings cool? I found them while out “picking” at one of my favorite antique shops in the area.
Since this is the season when angels have a significant meaning in the story of our Savior’s birth, I think they are pretty beautiful.
And the wooden “Believe” sign was a find from Tractor Supply store last season — you may think it’s a place just for chicken feed, but they honestly have some really cute home decor stuff too!
I always love the pops of red this time of year and how pretty they stand out against all the “dullness” of winter. This red berry tree in our front yard does a good job of showing off this time of year.
As does our red door that still pops with cheer.
Even our dog Annie waits with anticipation…Christmas is coming fast! Are you feeling ready yet??
