Can I confess something?
Most of the time I feel like my bedroom is a bit like a war zone.
Between the piles of “I’m too tired to hang you back up” clothing or the equally monstrous “I folded you but I don’t want to put you away” heaps, I sometimes feel like I would rather NOT hang out in my bedroom.
Which is really a shame because a bedroom is supposed to be your retreat. A place where you go at the end of the day for peace and relaxation.
Not to be stressed out by the laundry.
Trust me, I am working on this…it’s a process.
Our master bedroom is a weirdly large space.
I feel like I don’t even properly use half of it, and since extra space is at such a premium in our constantly shrinking home, I almost feel guilty for even having it.
Nonetheless, I have been trying to appreciate it more for what it offers, and that really should be a retreat.
This room has been slated for a “fresh look” as an upcoming winter project. After 9 years of it being the same, my husband and I would like to change the color and possibly add some shiplap to the walls to break up the “boring” feel of the room.
But since that’s still a few months away, I made a few lesser, simple changes this fall.
One was our bedding.
Did you know that sheets actually start to fall apart after owning them for almost 14 years of marriage? Yes, they do! It was time for some nice new bedding that will carry us into the next 14 years.
I found an excellent deal online after I stumbled upon a fellow blogger’s post through a company called Linens and Hutch.
This is not an affiliate post, but the deal was too good to pass up – purchase one set of sheets and receive a free duvet and matching pillow set, plus free shipping.
I believe the deal is still on through the end of October, but it looks like they run similar 20-40% off promotions pretty regularly.
I chose the yellow Honeycomb patterned sheet set and the Vines patterned duvet set in Gray.
I think I’ve mentioned before that yellow is my favorite color. I have a few mustard yellow accents that have worked their way into our bedroom. These sheets fit in perfectly.
But the primary color I turn to in this space is blue.
I re-did a dresser in blue chalk paint last year that is still in here.
And there are a few other blue accents that tie into our master bathroom that was made over last year as well.
I guess blue and yellow go together pretty harmoniously in nature and decor. Think sun and sky.
Aside from the new bedding, I pulled out my favorite cold weather quilt that really ties everything together in this room.
I found it on clearance at a Pottery Barn outlet store several years ago, and it is so pretty. I love all the colors and patterns.
These chilly fall nights are perfect for snuggling up under the covers with a good book. Problem is, I don’t ever want to get out of my cozy bed in the morning!
