Do you ever have one of those projects that seems to stay on your “to-do” list waaaaaay longer than it should? Don’t worry, you’re so not alone.
For months now I’ve been wanting to re-paint our front door. I actually purchased the paint back in December, after I got a gift card for Christmas – yep, buying paint actually brings me great joy.
This isn’t a sponsored post, but I had read some really great reviews about this brand of paint and wanted to try it out. It’s typically a little bit more expensive, depending on where you shop for it, but I bought it on sale at Hobby Lobby for a pretty good price. See similar link here.
I choose “Ambitious” – a bright, cheery red color. The entire bottle allowed me to do 3 coats on my door, and I even had a little leftover in the bottle, which is nice in case I ever need to do touch ups.
When we first built this house, we chose a burgundy color for our front door, but after 9 years of sun beating down and fading, it really needed a new paint job…badly.
Not to mention, the old “Welcome” decal that I had on the door and removed a while ago was still somewhat visible…annoying much?
Fast forward six months later and this project still wasn’t getting done.
Until this week.
Mic drop. Yeah.
I had a great sunny day for painting and even had time to add a cute little new decal to the center of the door as well.
I created this address decal using my Cricut. Having one of these machines is super fun for creating all kinds of different projects.
I was able to cut it out on some white vinyl and apply it to the door just like a sticker.
If I ever get sick of it, I can simply remove the sticker and change it to something different.
I was debating on whether to put our address on the door vs. a cute greeting like, “hello” or “howdy.”
Actually, “howdy” was immediately shot down by my 5th grader.
Ultimately, the address won. Classic, simple, and not “howdy.”
A good sweeping, cobweb removal – spiders out here in the country are for reals ya’ll – and some potted plants with a welcome mat complete this easy makeover.
And that’s one more thing I can happily check off the “to-do” list!
I love it Katie. It looks so fresh and clean!! Great job
Thanks! It sure went from drab to fab!
It looks great…..nice job.
Thank you! 🙂
I like it! Good job!
Thanks Jen! The red certainly brightens up my front entry way!
