Handmade with Love For Those Who Need Hope

November 10, 2016 by Katie Anderson Leave a Comment

Hi Again! Each week this month I’m continuing to showcase all the brand new items to my Have a Little Faith Shop, and today I’m really excited to talk about some very special items that are handmade with love, for those who need it the most.

Several years ago, when we first built our home, we had no idea we chose a location that was next door to some of the nicest, friendliest neighbors we could ever ask for. I mean it really, we are blessed. I don’t think we’re ever really going to be able to move away, because we have some really incredible people who live next door to us!

We have enjoyed getting to know this family better over the years and include them in our lives. They show us what it means to set an example of living out a life of faith, and nothing could have shown that more, when about a year ago, they adopted 2 sweet little boys from Latvia, and made them part of their family.

You can read all about their story on their own family blog, over at https://anactoffaith.wordpress.com/ and gain some valuable insight on what it means to be a part of adopting abroad. I love that each member of their family takes turns contributing to the blog posts – it really is something they are all passionate about together!

My neighbor Ruth, the mother of these 5 beautiful kids, loves to create really adorable handmade items – like these rice-filled hand warmers & crayon roll-ups – and in turn uses the profits made in selling them, to help contribute to a cause near and dear to their family’s heart. That cause is Mission: Hope, an orphan care ministry that is ran through Oakwood Church in Hartland, Wisconsin.

mission-hope-logoIt was actually through this church’s annual mission trips to Latvia that the Crouse family first met and fell in love with their two future sons, who were living in the Jelgava City Orphanage at the time. God has used Oakwood Church’s relationship with the orphanage to change the lives of 18 children adopted by area families as well as kids still in Latvia with whom they have ongoing relationships.

I am so very excited to be able to introduce Ruth as another artist who will be contributing to Have a Little Faith Shop. Her items are not only handmade with love, but in purchasing them, you will also in turn be helping contribute money towards an incredibly important cause, supporting orphans through this amazing ministry.

Hand Warmers

Zig Zag Pocket Rice Hand Warmers

These adorable cotton & flannel rice-filled hand warmers are a perfect stocking stuffer or gift idea with Christmas right around the corner! At only $5 for the pair, they are available in a variety of different fabric styles and prints to choose from – some even in our own Wisconsin pride (Green Bay Packers & Wisconsin Badgers) – great for keeping your hands warm outside during those frozen tundra football games!

Crayon Roll Ups

Purple/Floral Crayon Roll Up

These sweet little crayon roll up art sets keep crayons or small colored pencils neatly organized on the go. Great for throwing in a diaper bag or purse to keep children occupied at restaurants, church, waiting rooms, or traveling, these roll-ups include 16 crayons or colored pencils, all for only $10. Again, available in a variety of fun, colorful prints and fabric patterns, and tie nicely closed with a ribbon.

Knit Fish Soap Mitt

Hand Knit Fish Soap Mitt

Aren’t these so cute? Ruth’s mom hand knit these fish-shaped soap mitts that actually hold a bar of soap on the inside. Perfect for keeping in the tub – kids love to watch the fish float on top of the water and scrub up with it at bath time. These include 1 bar of Ivory Soap and are available in a variety of different colors, for $8 each.

Again, all of these items are now available for sale on my blog’s shop and all proceeds go to benefit the Mission: Hope orphan care ministry I mentioned above. Please consider purchasing one of these handmade items today!

End Greeting
