Happy Summer! Its been a few weeks since I took a mini blogcation and we officially started the season of summer here at our household. A few days after our kids finished school, we took a trip up to Minnesota to visit my husband’s family. It was great spending some time with our loved ones that we don’t get to see very often, along with this little cutie, our niece who is now 6 months old. Time sure does fly!
We’ve been settling back into our new summer routine since returning home and I’ve been busy getting some different projects’ loose ends tied up, hoping to share with you over the course of the summer.
One such project are these great new shelves we installed recently in our kitchen over our coffee nook. They sit directly above our red coffee cabinet.
You can read about how I made over this inexpensive rummage sale find here. Its turned into such a great storage piece for our kitchen, housing extra linens, cookbooks and coffee items.
Anyway, these shelves are identical to the ones we installed in our recent makeover of our master bathroom. They were so inexpensive and easy to install, I knew they would be a perfect fit for this space in the kitchen too.
I really love the way they add so much extra space to showcase some pretty dishes that I can change out seasonally, as I often like to do.
The mini vintage ivory tea set I picked up at a local flea market sale, along with those adorable Crate & Barrel green floral bowls.
The flea market had an entire barn that was filled with all sorts of odds and ends. You walked in and bought an empty box for $3 and could fill it with anything you wanted in the barn. It was like Christmas! I do enjoy a good picking!
I also did a little online shopping and purchased a candle from the Pioneer Woman’s new Mercantile website. This Strawberry Rhubarb Preserves candle makes my kitchen smell amazing!
If you haven’t had a chance to check out all the cute stuff available on her website, you really should….one day I would love to make a road trip out to Oklahoma to visit the Merc shop in person.
I hope your summer is off to a great start! Do you have any road trips of your own planned anywhere fun? I’d love to hear about where you’re headed and what you have in store for your own family this summer!
