FREE Back to School Printable!

August 27, 2016 by Katie Anderson Leave a Comment

Well folks, here in my household we are fast approaching the official end of summer vacation and that means it’s back to school time again for my three kiddos! Something like 48 hours, 35 minutes and 4 seconds left until the house is silent again they are all back in school…but who’s counting?!

Looking back, I had a great summer home together with my kids, but I can definitely tell it’s time for our regular routine to begin again. Lots of end-of-the-summer boredom and bickering has kicked in and this mama’s ready for a change as much as they are.

What I’m finding hard to believe is how fast my kids are growing up – this year I will have a third grader, a first grader and a 4K preschooler! I still remember my oldest daughter’s very first day of preschool like it was yesterday, and now that my youngest has hit that milestone as well it’s making my heart kinda sad.

Everyone warns you when you have children how fast time really flies by, but I guess until you experience it yourself you don’t really know what they mean exactly. Then one day it hits you hard and it takes us moms a moment to calculate how we got there so quickly!

My kids all love school and I’m excited for them to be learning and growing. This year will be my last year with a preschooler home half days and then next year….gulp…all three will be gone all day! I seriously don’t know what I will do with myself, although I have to admit, after almost 10 years of “full-time” parenting, it will probably be an exceptionally wonderful feeling!

To make the start of the school year a bit more fun, I try to find a fun sign that my kids can hold with their first-day-of-school smiles and backpacks, sort of documenting a brand new academic adventure. This year I created one myself that I am sharing with you today as a FREE First Day of School Printable.

2016-17 First Day of School printableI cheated a little bit and took these “first day” photos early so you could see how cute these signs are for yourself! They are fill-in-the-blank style, that can be printed onto any sort of regular white paper or card stock. All you have to do it click on the link above and it will open up in a PDF format, easy for printing!

I always find it entertaining to see what my kids decide they want to be each year that they hold these signs. Last year my little guy wanted to be a construction worker, and this year it’s a policeman. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it. #backtheblue

Erik back to school

My middle wanted to be a marine biologist last year since she loves the ocean so much, but this year it would appear her dancing feet – and not her mermaid tail – got the best of her. I could watch her graceful ballet moves all day!

Sofia back to school

And my oldest has wanted to be a vet ever since she was old enough to walk and talk. She has a majorly big heart for animals – loves caring for all her pets at home and at our local shelter, and I must say is an excellent horseback rider after taking another round of lessons this summer.

Olivia back to school

What about you and your kiddos? Are they as geared up and ready for back to school as you are? Or will you be the mom sobbing in the driver’s seat because her “baby’s not ready for kindergarten” like the YouTube video going viral? LOL 🙂

Whatever the case may be for you and your children, I pray that this would be the start of an amazing year ahead! Feel free to share this post with any other mom – or dad – you know out there that would appreciate a cute sign for their little student!

Next week I’ll be showcasing some awesome new changes we have been working on around our house all summer long to make things run smoother this school year – from a kid-friendly “quiet” playroom space to a productive homework station – I hope you’ll stop back over to the blog and take a look!

End Greeting
