Hello Friends! Hope you all had a nice Mother’s Day on Sunday and got some much-needed pampering and R ‘n R. Sometimes I think us mothers should unite and demand a whole week<\/em> of celebration instead of just one day, am I right? I enjoyed spending the day with my family and eating some delicious pie from the Norske Nook<\/a>. Remember when I told you about that place here<\/a>? My family has been going there for years, and believe me, it was so worth the 3 hour drive to enjoy a little slice of heaven!<\/p>\n

My gifts this Mother’s Day centered around blooms, both for outside and inside my kitchen (my family knows me well.)<\/em> This is one of my favorite times of the year when all the plants start turning green again, leaves are bursting out on the trees and flowers are beginning to bloom.<\/p>\n

\"Mother's<\/a><\/p>\n

I love to grow a colorful assortment of picking flowers of my own over the summer, along with growing our own fresh herbs and vegetables in our garden bed. This is definitely the time of year to get all of that started!<\/p>\n

This cute painted little ladybug garden brick was a gift my daughter made at school for me this Mother’s Day.<\/p>\n

\"Ladybug<\/a><\/p>\n

My husband loves to work out in the yard and his favorite thing to do each spring is plant our vegetable garden. We have a raised bed with 4 sections, and this year we chose to grow green beans, sugar snap peas, tomatoes and cucumbers. We also have a section of rhubarb plants at the end of the garden which make for some delicious pies!<\/p>\n

\"Cucumbers\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There’s really nothing quite like the taste of fresh veggies homegrown in your own soil. I can’t wait!<\/p>\n

These will also be fun to plant this spring and see how they turn out. They were a gift from a friend and I think they are such a neat idea. They are Wildflower Seedles<\/a>, basically seed balls that you toss on a patch of soil and let the sun and rain do the rest. We have just the spot along the back of our fence line for these to go.<\/p>\n

And one more favorite bloom of mine is starting to make its appearance this week…lilacs! My lilac bush is finally sprouting some fragrant blooms, which even though they only last a short while, are a savored treat for me this time of year.<\/p>\n

From my gardens outside, to my kitchen on the inside, the blooms are everywhere this time of year. One of my Mother’s Day gifts was this incredibly beautiful pink orchid. Orchids are so easy to take care of – you rarely have to water them and as long as you keep them in a bright lit location, you are good to go.<\/p>\n

I also received some new kitchen towels & linens from The\u00a0Pioneer Woman line<\/a>\u00a0at Walmart. I have a few of her items from this line already but I’ve had my eye on these for a while. I love how all the colors tie into my kitchen decor perfectly! Her line is meant to mimic what you would find at a local Flea Market…right up my alley!<\/p>\n

And the last gift I received this Mother’s Day was a perfectly sweet and creative little herb garden! This was my kids’ gift to me (with the help of their very talented and crafty grandmother.)\u00a0<\/em>It was made with 3 wooden spoons which they painted, then decoupaged burned images of the herbs onto each spoon. Then they hand wrote the name of each herb above. So clever and cute!<\/p>\n

I love gifts that are handmade with love like this one. These herbs will be so nice to have in my kitchen to cook with!<\/p>\n
