Happy Easter to you my friends! I hope you spent your day surrounded by loved ones and made wonderful memories while celebrating Christ’s resurrection! Even though this Easter has almost come and gone until next year, I wanted to share with you a tradition that our family does each Easter morning – Resurrection Rolls. You could really choose to make these any morning this week – or just save them in your recipe box until next Easter – to celebrate Christ’s triumph over the grave!<\/p>\n

Resurrection Rolls are a simple breakfast roll that I have been making on Easter since my kids were old enough to start to understand why we really celebrate the holiday – hint: it’s not really all about the chocolate bunnies and jelly beans, although those are fun too.\u00a0<\/em>Each year my kids look forward to preparing these rolls on Easter morning with me almost as much as they enjoy finding their hidden Easter baskets.<\/p>\n

The use of refrigerated roll dough makes these very “doable” for a hectic Easter morning with little ones, and the rest of the ingredients involve little to almost no prep – just melted butter, marshmallows and cinnamon and sugar.<\/p>\n

\"Resurrection<\/a><\/p>\n

To start, give each child one triangle or circle section of dough. This represents the tomb.<\/p>\n

\"Rolls<\/a><\/p>\n

Each child then takes one marshmallow which represents the body of Christ.<\/p>\n

\"Marshmallows\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Dip the marshmallow in the butter and roll it in the cinnamon and sugar mixture. This represents the oils and spices Jesus’ body was anointed with upon burial.<\/p>\n

Lay the marshmallow on the dough and carefully wrap it around the marshmallow. Make sure all seams are pinched together well. (Otherwise the marshmallow will ooze out of the seams)<\/p>\n

Bake according to the dough package directions.<\/p>\n

Allow to cool for a bit, then break open the “tomb” aka the roll and the “body of Christ” aka the marshmallow, is no longer there! It’s a great illustration for kids to see that the marshmallow has “disappeared” just as Jesus was no longer in the grave – he had risen from the dead!<\/p>\n
