It’s no secret that we love the Harry Potter books and movies here at our house. We have two cats named after our favorite characters, Hermione and Luna. We threw our oldest daughter the ultimate Harry Potter themed party on her 9th birthday, which you can read all about here.<\/a><\/strong> And this year, we decided to deck out our dining room for Halloween in Harry Potter themed decor.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I may be just a muggle, non-magic folk, but this room has given me all the magical feels this holiday season. So I thought I’d share with you today our take on a Harry Potter Halloween.<\/p>\n

Since I’m not into celebrating any of the creepy or gory parts of Halloween, we keep it pretty lighthearted in our home around this time of year. I’m ok with pumpkins, black cats and a few white ghosts spooking around, so we’ve got all of them here featured in the dining room.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

These adorable little white ghost mugs I found at Target this year. They are from the Threshold line.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

They’re just the right size for a kid’s hot cocoa or cider.<\/p>\n

This wooden candy store<\/strong><\/a> Halloween decoration is from Target’s Hyde & Eeek line.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Nothing scary or too creepy here, just some good clean Halloween fun.<\/p>\n

Our hutch is equally dressed in Hogwart’s fashion, with this fun cardboard cut out of a spooky backdrop, along with vintage potion bottles.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I placed some battery operated tea lights inside the little black cauldrons for an extra ambient nighttime glow.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I added a Harry Potter print, felt witch banner and this cute Broom Parking sign to the bottom. The Boy Who Lived is showing off his notorious lightning bolt scar proudly.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Our pumpkin pails are waiting patiently at the top to be filled to the brim with candy in a couple more weeks.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A few other Harry Potter items are in this room as well. My daughter’s take on the Whomping Willow, her original painting, next to a friendly owl and pair of round-eyed glasses.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There’s also a Lego inspired house on Privet Drive, complete with a friendly version of Aragog the giant spider!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And of course, the letter that started it all, addressed to Mr. Harry Potter himself, stuck between the plate rack.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And candy, lots and lots of candy! I really don’t understand why candy corn gets such a bad rap this time of year! I really like it!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Speaking of plates, the pumpkin<\/strong><\/a> and black cat<\/strong><\/a> plates are also from Target’s Hyde and Eek! line.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I couldn’t resist their playful nature for the kids to enjoy this season.<\/p>\n

Plus, the black cat plates reminded me of our Luna, who is no longer a tiny kitten anymore. She’s getting bigger by the day, as well as our other gray kitty, Hermione.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I guess it wouldn’t be Halloween without a black cat, some candy and a wizarding world of magic! I hope you enjoyed our playful take on Harry Potter Halloween. In just a few short weeks I’ll be taking down all the sweet and spooky and resetting this room for Thanksgiving, one of my all time favorite holidays.<\/p>\n
