It seems a bit ironic that as I sit and write this blog post, my kids are carving their pumpkins inside and it’s simultaneously snowing outside. Welcome to fall in Wisconsin! You never quite know what kind of weather you’re going to get.<\/p>\n

This season has seemed to fly by.<\/p>\n

Sigh.<\/p>\n

Fall is my favorite time and I really tried to make an effort to slow down and appreciate it while it lasted this year. I decorated the house in early September, but am finally getting around to sharing it here.<\/p>\n

My strategy each year with home decor is stick with colors that harmoniously blend in with my home’s overall general theme and appearance.<\/p>\n

Lots of mustard yellow, dark green and orange for fall mesh well with my traditional palette of gray, blue and white.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I usually purchase a few new items every year, after I weed through and donate dated decor pieces from previous years.\u00a0 I found a few cute things from Kirkland’s, like this mustard yellow sign. Fall is definitely my favorite color.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And this coordinating plaid blanket and pom pom “Fall Sweet Fall” pillow.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I’m loving this new arrangement in our living room for the winter season. It definitely makes the space feel cozy and welcoming. We’ve carved out a spot next to the white chair for our tree, which will be up in about a month.<\/p>\n

And I recently added this white shelf from Ikea on the opposite wall. I think it helps balance out all the white space on this wall, plus it’s more of a focal point when you enter the room. It should be fun to change out for the seasons.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Pumpkin Patch sign is from Hobby Lobby and the rest of the pumpkins featured here are from the Target Dollar Spot last year, along with a few fabric ones I made myself several years ago.<\/p>\n

Another recent addition to this room is a hope chest I found at the thrift store in town for next to nothing. It’s made completely of cedar wood inside and it has helped immensely with hidden storage of items we use frequently, but don’t always want to see out in the open.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It still needs a coat of paint on the outside because it’s a little roughed up, but I can save that project for after the holidays. Inside I’ve been storing all the kids’ coloring stuff, toys they play with upstairs, and the most popular games we play together as a family.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Moving into the kitchen which is open to our living room space, I continued the fall color scheme and of course, added lots of pumpkin touches.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This built in gets restyled for each season, but I love displaying my collection of jade dishes here intermittently among other vintage kitchen finds.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

My husband knows I love a good vintage find to add to my collection, and he recently bought me this cute little grocery store calendar from a Minnesota Red Owl in the late 1960’s. Since he works in grocery, it seems fitting here in our kitchen.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Speaking of signs, this Fall Favorites sign was a free printable I found online and I think it pretty much sums up how I feel about the season.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

From cider to pumpkins to all thing cozy, I wish the season lasted longer than the few short weeks it did each year. Before we know it, winter will be moving in quickly and most likely will overstay it’s welcome like it does here so often in the Midwest.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

For now, I will take every last ounce of warm-ish fall like weather that we have left to enjoy! Speaking of warmer weather, I definitely dropped the ball on sharing our oldest daughter’s 13th birthday festivities back in early September. It was such a fun themed party, so even though that date has come and long gone, I still think I’ll be sharing the details here on the blog soon. Better late than never! \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n
