You know the old expression, “time flies when you’re having fun?”<\/p>\n

Well, I for one can certainly attest that this indeed is true.<\/p>\n

In case you didn’t notice, the webwaves were a little on the quiet side over here at Have a Little Faith blog last month.<\/p>\n

I took the month of August off from blogging and spent some much-needed family time with my loved ones – one love in particular – my hubby.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Even though we’ve been married for close to 14 years now, I still don’t feel like I get enough time spent with this guy.<\/p>\n

He’s an incredibly hard-working individual who sacrifices a lot of time away from us through his job, managing a local grocery store. Working in retail is demanding, and it has definitely taken its toll on our family time over the years. We do our best to take advantage of the little down time we do get.<\/p>\n

But lucky for me (us) his store underwent some major remodeling and was closed for construction the majority of the month of August.<\/p>\n

We knew this was slated for his store months ahead of time, so we took full advantage, and clumped 3 weeks of his vacation together so we could unwind together as a family and enjoy our time of rest.<\/p>\n

Most of our time was spent re-connecting as a family. When you continue to go-go-go at a never-ending rapid pace, life just sometimes passes you like a blur.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We were given the unique opportunity to pause that blur – if only for a few short weeks – and experience the gift of time.<\/p>\n

Time to laugh.<\/p>\n

Time to stay up late and sleep in the same.<\/p>\n

Time to piddle away at the honey-do list.<\/p>\n

Time to take naps on the porch swing.<\/p>\n

Time to enjoy each other’s company.<\/p>\n

Time to slow down and rest.<\/p>\n

It was a wonderful month that I wouldn’t trade for even the biggest wad of cash you could throw at me.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And even though my husband is now back to work at his newly re-opened store, we’ve had at least a taste of what a normal pace of life feels like. Not the 60-hour work week, sun up to sun down pace of life that we’ve been living.<\/p>\n

I pray that God gave us that glimpse for a reason. If only to remind us how very fortunate we are to just have gotten those 3 weeks of rest…which for us seemed like a lifetime.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

But maybe God gave us that little gift for a different purpose. Maybe to show us how our lives all need to slow down a little more. To allow the gift of time to enter our world more often.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

With any significant amount of rest, comes relief and readiness to move ahead. With another season of summer already drawing to an end, I am excited for the crisp air of fall to arrive.<\/p>\n

I also have some other little house projects I’ve been pecking away at that I’m anxious to share with you.<\/p>\n

Thanks for sticking with me here even during my periods of blogging rest. It means the world to me!<\/p>\n
