Well, summer is officially here! Swimming, popsicles, lightning bugs, bare feet and sleeping in. Seems like we wait all year for these 3 months to get here!<\/p>\n

I’ve been reflecting a lot these past few weeks about what we went through last summer at this time in\u00a0losing out to the farmhouse of our dreams<\/a>, and how different our lives may have been if we indeed had gone down that path. A whole year has passed since then. I’ve done a lot of praying and a lot of listening. I’m happy to say I’m in a good place with where God has our family right now.<\/p>\n

It has also forced me to take a good, hard look at the home we do have and make some changes that will allow us to live in this space a little more comfortably and creatively, if this is where God has intended for us to stay a while longer.<\/p>\n

I’ve combed through closets and purged through piles, on a mission to allow our home the luxury of breathing room….less stuff, more function.<\/p>\n

And I’ve learned that the art of reinvention can really be a beautiful thing.<\/p>\n

I’ll admit, there are plenty of times that I’ve looked at a space in my home, thrown up my hands and said, “Nope, outta ideas!” But honestly, this past year has really pushed me hard to once again look at my home with a fresh set of eyes, reevaluate, and reinvent.<\/p>\n

Have you ever tried this in your own home?<\/p>\n

It may mean considering moving a piece of furniture from one room to another, a fresh coat of paint in a bold, new color — or dare I say, wallpaper (which is making a comeback baby!) — but whatever the change, it requires some “outside-the-box” thinking to stimulate a new way of consideration.<\/p>\n

The living room is the one space in our home that gets the most usage and needs to have good form and function. Lately, this space has just seemed stale to me and in need of some reinvention.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After much thought, I decided to move some bookcases around that used to be in my office, another room that has felt a bit cluttered and off to me lately.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Bringing in these 2 bookcases and switching around our TV with the fireplace (spoiler alert – it’s a fake!) was the perfect solution to our living room dilemma.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It instantly made the space feel more cozy and inviting, and I never would have ever thought to try them in that space before.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This reinvention method doesn’t only apply to furniture. It can extend to other things in your home as well like lamps, artwork, pillows, etc.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Whenever I feel like I’m getting bored with a space, one of my favorite things to do to change things up a bit is “shop my house” for items I can switch around and try in a new environment. It helps in not breaking the bank with purchasing new items all the time too.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

So the next time you’re feeling the urge for something new and different, just give each room in your home a hard look, and imagine the possibilities that a little reinvention can achieve. It just might make you fall in love with your house all over again.<\/p>\n
