Hello Friends!<\/p>\n

The past month has just flown by and it seems like a lot has transpired since my last post. We were dealing with some unfortunate egg-eating in our flock, which I’m thankful to say was remedied by clipping their beaks. You can read all about that crazy adventure here.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

However, shortly after this problem was resolved, another arose. One of our hens passed away rather suddenly due to a bound egg.\u00a0An\u00a0egg bound\u00a0hen literally has an\u00a0egg\u00a0stuck in her oviduct. It is most common in young\u00a0chickens – ours are two years old – and can be due to a large or double yolked\u00a0egg\u00a0that is too large to pass through.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Even though we did all we could for her, she was not able to pass the egg. It was a sad experience to go through, and really makes you grieve the loss of something you’ve cared for since the start of their life. But this is what happens when you raise animals, and it’s hard not to get attached, even to poultry.<\/p>\n

Today I want to share with you all another “A Little Faith”<\/em> segment here on the blog. These types of posts help me sort things out in that jumbled-up brain of mine, and allow me to process into words the different challenges I face in life.<\/p>\n

The theme verse of this blog comes from Matthew\u00a017:20-21, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”<\/p>\n

I love what this verse says about faith. I think as Christians, we are expected to have it all together, never admit we experience doubt, or question what God may be doing in our lives. I know I’ve been there, and that doesn’t make me any “less of a Christian” to have walked that path.<\/p>\n

Even when I’m experiencing these things in my life, I still believe that God is in control and that He is capable. Nothing is impossible for Him, but even still, sometimes my life may take a different turn than the one I planned.<\/p>\n

I’ve realized a lot over the last year what it means to let go of something in more ways than one.<\/p>\n

I started off this year with a lot of lofty goals both personally and professionally, and feel like I’ve already fallen short on many of the things I was hoping to accomplish.<\/p>\n

More recently I sort of feel like “every day” life and the rhythm of our hectic schedule has slowly been taking over – you know, the kind of feeling where life seems to be running you, instead of vice versa?<\/p>\n

All of my ambitions to work on the creative projects that fill my bucket and all the productive time spent working on my writing, seems to have come to a screeching halt. Appointments and sports practices and school demands and errands and work and music lessons and committee meetings and etc, etc, etc….have all taken precedence.<\/p>\n

Not that any of these are bad things on their own. But without ceasing to pause in any break for creative measure, all of these things together would make anyone go a bit nutty.<\/p>\n

\"\"Don’t Quit Your Daydream<\/a><\/p>\n

Either way, its made me realize I need a reboot. I’m convinced anything will starting functioning properly again once its been unplugged for a while.<\/p>\n

I’m hoping that a summer of down time will be my opportunity to rekindle the creative flame that was extinguished. I think, as a creatively minded person, if you do not permit time to be creative on a consistent basis, then it can really sort of backfire in your face. And before you know it, you realize there needs to be a shift.<\/p>\n

What’s more, failing to believe in your dreams can also be detrimental. Especially if you’re passionate about them! I don’t think we should ever give up on the things we feel we have\u00a0a special calling in life to achieve.<\/p>\n

My dreams to further my blogging endeavors and stretch those creative wings even wider are worth holding onto. I know it may sound funny, even a bit strange, but I truly believe God has called me to write this blog.<\/p>\n

Somewhere along the way I think I may have lost sight of that calling. Or maybe at least questioned it. It wasn’t until recently that God stirred in my heart again to remind me why He put that dream there to begin with.<\/p>\n

I’m so thankful that\u00a0dreams don’t have an expiration date….and there’s always time to take a deep breath and try again. I’m definitely not ready to give up on mine quite yet.<\/p>\n
