Hoop, there it is! Since we’re in the middle of March madness, I figured a little basketball humor was appropriate for today’s post. Speaking of basketball, the highlight of my kids’ spring break this week was having a FREE basketball hoop discovered on the side of the road and delivered to our driveway by their grandfather & uncle. Talk about a slam dunk!<\/p>\n

Anyway, let’s rebound for a moment and focus on what we’re really talking about here…hoop art! Have you guys seen the resurgence of trending hoop art circulating on Pinterest lately? Soooo many cute ideas! I’ve seen everything from embroidery to fabric to wreaths made out of these simple wooden crafting circles.<\/p>\n

All this hoopla inspired me to try creating something myself this spring.\u00a0I wanted to make a pretty, colorful look for over my fireplace mantel, using solid pieces of fabric for my hoop art display.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Lately I have been challenging myself to get back into my “less is more” mantra and trying to use items I already own when I’m working on a new project.<\/p>\n

Since I was after a spring look, I needed some fabric with pastel or floral vibes…but I was striking out in my fabric scraps bin in that department.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

So after letting the thought bubble above my head hover for a bit, I came up with a different idea. I remembered I had a bunch of pretty floral napkins that might work for stretching across the bigger hoops.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And I dug into my outgrown kids’ clothing bin for the rest of the fabric…using a few leftover toddler dresses that never sold at my last rummage sale. (Yes, I am aware I have a problem if I still have bins of toddler clothing left in my basement…since my kids are loooong past those days…but all judging aside, they did come in handy for this project!)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After tracing some circles in the skirts, cutting them out with a scissors and securing them in the wooden hoops, I was left with some very festive looking spring hoop art!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I even used some pretty floral washi tape in a pattern across one of the hoops to dress up the plain pastel pink fabric.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I was pleased as punch with how this project turned out!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And the best part was the price tag,\u00a0considering the fabric was all upcycled from things I already owned, I spent very little on creating something with a big statement.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Granted, I did have to purchase the wooden hoops, at roughly $10 for a bundle of 5. But overall, this hoop art was a slam dunk of a bargain!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And nothing is glued in or stapled, so I can very easily change these out for a new look if I want to recreate something else with these hoops down the road. I love projects that have versatility, don’t you?<\/p>\n
