I’m not sure why, but this year spring seems to be slowing creeping its way back into Wisconsin, and in no hurry whatsoever. You know the sloth from the movie Zootopia? If spring were an animal, it’d totally be that sloth. The cold weather and lack of sunshine is sticking around a little longer than it should be.<\/p>\n

I decided our family room needed a colorful boost that would propel it right into springtime. Hopefully the weather gets the hint now and soon follows!<\/p>\n

I think my inspiration for decorating our family room this year came from this vibrant quilt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It just screams springtime to me – with lots of yellows, corals and blues. I love to trade out blankets and pillows seasonally around the house. It’s a quick – & inexpensive – fix for a fresh look.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I moved the galvanized windmill<\/a> indoors above the mantle.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And of course, nothing says springtime quite like daffodils. These two faux planters I found at my local garden store on sale. Their blooms will stay pretty forever!<\/p>\n

I also added a cute little robin’s nest with some speckled eggs and one of my favorite natural fiber bunnies that I got a few years ago from World Market. I think they still carry quite a few of these in stock this time of year.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The “happy” fabric banner is a purchase from Target a few years back. It also has a 2nd “Easter” portion, but this year I thought I’d try something different and break the two up. It’s still here in the room, just hanging across the antique bed frame.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A few days before my craft expo earlier this month, I tried out one of the pieces by adding it to this mantle scene. It looked so cute in front of the blue mason jars.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This mason jar inspired barn board is actually made using nails and string. I will be featuring a tutorial on how I created it on the blog in May, when I am also planning a series devoted entirely to mason jars.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

What can I say? I like mason jars and I cannot lie! No other brothas can deny!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

All rapping aside, this room has me feeling like I’m ready for spring to make its move any day now. How about you? Have you started decorating for spring at your home yet?<\/p>\n
