Frosted Cranberries

November 13, 2018 by Katie Anderson Leave a Comment

Do you ever stumble upon one of those recipes that seems too simple to be true?

This is one of those recipes.

Honestly, there are 4 ingredients – one being water – and it’s like pure heaven in your mouth.

Trust me, you’ll be making and devouring these little delicious treats all holiday season long.

I first stumbled upon these last year around the holidays, thanks to an aunt of mine who made them for Thanksgiving. They were like eating nature’s candy and I’ve been dying to make another batch.

Here is what you need for this recipe:

  • 1 (12-oz) package of fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of water
  • 1 tablespoon of pasteurized egg white (Can also use light corn syrup or unflavored gelatin as an alternative)

Start by mixing together the water and the egg white in a medium-sized bowl. Just whisk it until it’s well blended. It might look a little frothy.

Put the cranberries into the bowl and coat with the mixture.

Then spread out the white sugar onto a parchment lined baking sheet and pour the cranberries over the top.

Then roll them around in the sugar until fully coated.

Transfer them over with a slotted spoon onto another piece of clean parchment paper, free of any remaining sugar chunks.

Let them dry at room temperature for 1-2 hours. Then stick them in the freezer or fridge.

You can either eat these plain or add them to a dessert as a garnish this holiday season. They would be beautiful alongside a slice of pie this Thanksgiving!

They will literally burst in your mouth with flavor. The sweetness of the sugar, paired with the tartness of the berry is just divine.

And all that sparkly red prettiness just screams holiday!

I hope you give these a try and see for yourself just how easy and delicious they really are.
